Mothers Day – a first

I wasn’t rip roaring for Mother’s Day even though it was going to be my first. I always felt (and still do) that it is a Hallmark holiday. I know my child loves and appreciates me, I don’t need a dedicated day to tell me that. I really didn’t want to make a big deal of it and so we didn’t.

What we did though was just absolutely perfect thanks to my husband and family. We went to visit my mother-in-law at the cemetery in the morning and then we had a nice relaxing BBQ with my parents, brother and sister-in-law in the afternoon. Then my father-in-law came for coffee later.

As you can see in the picture, Gwen and I got matching ‘you are my sunshine’ shirts :). And my husband gave me a few metal bracelets with ‘you are loved’ inscribed.  I do feel loved. And after today, I don’t feel so against Mother’s Day – as long as they can all be as chill as this one.
