Gwen’s bedtime is getting earlier and earlier. Today we did our bedtime routine of a bath, feed, and rock and she was asleep by 6:45 pm.
She’s been getting up once in the middle of the night around 1 or 2 am. Then she’ll sleep until 6:30 or 7 am! Pretty good I think.
What’s not so good is that we can’t transition her out of her sleeping pod and into laying flat in her crib. We’ve tried several times, but always give in to her fussiness for a better nights sleep. I have a feeling that when we really pull the trigger on her sleeping flat, we’ll have many sleepless nights We’re just not prepared to bite that bullet yet.
Last night I had the genius idea of trying to wean her out of her swaddle and left one arm out of the swaddle. After 4 hrs of watching her flare her one arm around and fussing through her sleep, I gave up and swaddled both arms again. She then slept soundly until 7 this morning.
We just bought the book Twelve Hours’ Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old. One of my husbands clients (he’s a part time personal trainer) recommended it is. It arrives tomorrow. Although the book has great reviews I’m not sure it’s going to help us solve the pod or swaddle weaning issue.
